In honor of National First-Generation College Student Day, celebrate first-generation Explorers across campus throughout the week, with a packed schedule of events. Read more here and in the events calendar.

Dr. Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., Day of Service will be on Monday, January 9, 2026, from 8:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  

Activities will include neighborhood clean-up in Wister Woods, Kemble Park, Olney Ave., and more locations and volunteering with local nonprofit organizations.  

T-shirts will be provided, and lunch will be available for all who are involved 

after service.

Head to the Tom Gola Plaza to attend a brick dedication unveiling ceremony honoring first-generation student trailblazers. This commemorative tribute, etched in stone, celebrates their enduring impact and marks and inspiring moment for our community.

Join award-winning author Zara Anishanslin associate professor of history and art history at the University of Delaware in the Art Museum for a discussion about her newest book, which uncovers the vital role of patriot artists, women, Black individuals, and people of mixed race who shaped the revolution through art, espionage, and activism.
