Professional Development Opportunity

La Salle University has been involved in an initiative to define and enhance the concept of vocation on our campus. This is a broad view of vocation, finding your heart’s desire, not the usual view of a religious calling. This initiative has included reading groups and a retreat aimed at developing a comprehensive document on what vocation means for the University. The working definition of vocation will be derived from the founding principles of the De La Salle Christian Brothers, who view everyone as an educator. Through meaningful conversations and discussions, the University hopes to create a foundational document that can guide faculty and staff onboarding and program evaluation. Ultimately, the goal is for faculty and staff to embrace their own life stories as vocation rather than mere jobs, enabling them to encourage students to do the same. On Friday, April 19, there will be a professional development opportunity from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. to discuss the concept of vocation from a Lasallian viewpoint and to provide feedback on the draft document. All members of the campus community are welcome to attend.

This initiative has been funded by a grant from NetVUE (Network for Vocation in Undergraduate Education) through the Council of Independent Colleges. Any questions, please contact Brother Robert Kinzler at 215-951-1470 or kinzler@laslle.edu.
