Dear Explorers and friends,

Welcome to the new year and, for us at 20th and Olney, the new academic semester. Even during the winter break, much has transpired at La Salle over the last several weeks:

We launched a partnership with the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania to ensure undergraduate nursing students have a path toward a degree and a career. Our Psy.D. psychology program received a six-figure grant that will support the mental health needs of our neighbors in Northwest Philadelphia, and a marketing researcher’s work has helped others get access to much-needed social services. Just last week, U.S. News & World Report ranked two of our online graduate programs among the nation’s strongest

The transformative work of our students, faculty, and staff is making a difference here on campus and beyond—building upon our university’s 160-year tradition of excellence.

Sincerely,

Daniel J. Allen, Ph.D.

The MacCready Family Foundation has awarded a six-figure grant to our psychology department and Psy.D. program to help La Salle better support its doctoral students and better serve the mental health needs of Northwest Philadelphians.

How valuable is a three-inch piece of plastic? It depends whom you ask. ID cards unlock access to social services, and research by marketing professor Meghan Pierce, Ph.D., and her students helped a local nonprofit earn grant funding to support disadvantaged Philadelphians.
