La Salle University Office of the President

To the University community:

The Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) has accredited La Salle University since 1930. Every eight years, colleges and universities with MSCHE accreditation must submit to what is called reaffirmation. This multi-year process includes several phases of rigorous self-study and external evaluation to ensure that colleges and universities are meeting MSCHE’s comprehensive standards for accreditation.

Our MSCHE accreditation process at La Salle has begun.

We are pleased to share that three members of our full-time faculty have graciously accepted our request to serve as co-chairs of La Salle’s Middle States Steering Committee. They are:

Swee-Lim Chia, Ph.D.

Co-Chair, Department of Marketing

Associate Professor, Marketing

David Cichowicz, Ph.D.

Associate Provost and Director of Institutional Research

Professor, Chemistry and Biochemistry

Meredith Kneavel, Ph.D.

Associate Dean, School of Nursing and Health Sciences

Professor, Urban Public Health and Nutrition

Our expectation is to earn reaffirmation of MSCHE accreditation in 2026, following a site visit by our assigned review team in 2025. Over the next several years, we will embark upon a thorough self-study process that will demonstrate our institution’s compliance with MSCHE standards and requirements. (It’s important to note that the co-chairs will utilize the work of our ongoing institutional strategic planning process to inform and guide our MSCHE accreditation process.)

The self-study process affords our community an opportunity to provide feedback and analyze our processes through the lens of La Salle’s mission and values, so that we can continuously improve the quality of education we provide to our students and the services we deliver to our community. Your support and participation in this process is valued and vital. The co-chairs will be recommending a structure and a process to ensure full, transparent campus participation in the self-study. More information in this regard will be forthcoming.

The aforementioned co-chairs will provide periodic updates on our efforts to reaffirm our MSCHE accreditation and solicit your involvement in the process. Until then, we encourage you to learn more about Middle States and MSCHE’s standards for accreditation and requirements for affiliation

Sincerely,

Daniel J. Allen, Ph.D.

President
