Welcome Weekend Volunteer Opportunities

Move-in day for the Class of 2029 starts at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 21! 


This year, the move-in crew will be unloading cars for new students and their families. The Welcome Week Committee is asking for volunteers who can commit to at least two one-hour shifts on the day. 


Jobs on the day don't all include lifting and volunteers will be scheduled accordingly from sign-up sheet information.

First Expedition Walk 

Thursday, Aug. 21 

For the fourth year, join the First-Year Experience (FYE) Taskforce for the First Expedition Walk for the kickoff of Welcome Weekend! Students will be led by the Philadelphia 76ers Official Drumline, Senior Orientation Leaders, the La Salle Spirit Dance Team, President Daniel J. Allen, Ph.D., a faculty procession and Dean of Students, walking from Hayman Hall to the John E. Glaser Arena.

Throughout the year, we celebrate the wide array of individuals, groups, and cultures at La Salle by calling to mind various holidays, observances, and commemorative days that provide our campus with an opportunity to learn and to become involved as they desire. Learn more about the recognitions taking place across the globe and throughout the country during the month of August, including:

Academic Year Convocation

Join faculty, staff, and Christian Brothers to kick off the 2025–2026 school year and celebrate La Salle.

De La Salle Institute for Teaching and Learning (DLSI) Summer Teaching and Learning Conference    

Tuesday, Aug. 19 from 9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Faculty and staff are invited to join the DLSI in Founders' Hall for a day of presentations and panel sessions focused on subjects to help teachers as the school year begins. 

Community Hour at the Union Hideaway 

Aug. 20 from 4 – 6 p.m.

Join the La Salle community every third Wednesday this summer at the Union Hideaway featuring $4.50 Miller Lite, $5.50 Explorer Ale, $6.50 wine, and other non-alcoholic beverages, plus $8.50 Buffalo wings.  

New Student Move In and Convocation 

Thursday, Aug. 21 starting at 8 a.m. 

New students will be moving into their on-campus housing all morning and then beginning their La Salle experience with the First Expedition Walk and New Student Convocation. Look out for more information and volunteer opportunities. Staff and faculty sign up to volunteer.
