This Week at La Salle

Dear Explorers and friends,

The month of March brought with it moments for reflection and renewal with our observance of Lent and the beginning of the Spring season. Importantly, this year we celebrated the 160th anniversary of the founding of La Salle University. Monumental milestones like this in the life of an institution offer an opportunity to honor our past and set a renewed vision for our future.

This month was packed with examples of the excellence and pride of the Explorer community.  For the second consecutive year, we were recognized as a military-friendly institution. Our 30th Annual Charter Dinner, where we awarded our highest honors of the year, set the stage for our Mission & Heritage Week which included lectures by some of our own Lasallian scholars, and an opportunity for me to share my vision for the university with our alumni in our Charting La Salle's Future virtual event. Our Explorer community delivered in a big way on our 10th annual Day of Giving, raising more than $1 million in 24 hours for the third consecutive year.

This month, whether meeting alumni, serving our students at our Community Dinner, or taking a quiet moment to enjoy a self-guided Easter gallery tour through our art museum, I was reminded of the importance of giving back—through volunteerism, mentorship of our students and young alumni, and personal philanthropy. It takes the support of our entire community to keep La Salle ranked as one of the nation’s best universities and strongest returns on investment

Sincerely,

Daniel J. Allen, Ph.D.

Explorers near and far united in support of our 10th annual Day of Giving—with nearly 2,125 gifts to La Salle totaling $1.06 million. (Graduating seniors who made gifts of at least $20.23 received their Commencement cords.) Read more about this record-breaking day, which supported our $10 million Charter Challenge initiative.

Each year, our University gathers to celebrate the anniversary of our charter from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The 30th annual Charter Dinner, held March 11, recognized the embodiment of Lasallian values and honored one of our longtime former Trustees.
