This Week at La Salle

Dear Explorers and friends,

A new academic year has commenced. At La Salle, we are off to an exciting start!

We closed out the summer by welcoming a cohort of Archdiocese of Philadelphia employees to our education residency program. This two-week intensive experience marked the start of the journey for these professionals who will be pursuing their education degree at La Salle as part of our new partnership with the Archdiocese.

I was honored to help welcome first-year students and their families to campus at the start of Move-In Weekend on Thursday, Aug. 24. Explorientation weekend is a fantastic opportunity to connect as a University community and celebrate another year beginning at 20th and Olney.

At our Opening Meeting for faculty and staff, we launched our new strategic plan, Ascend. This plan—built on six pillars—will position La Salle among the top Catholic universities in the U.S.

This is just the beginning of what is sure to be an exciting year at La Salle University. I look forward to leading this University through its incredible next chapter.

Sincerely,

Daniel J. Allen, Ph.D.
President
La Salle University

La Salle partnered with the Archdiocese of Philadelphia for an education residency program. The initiative helps the Archdiocese create a teacher pipeline within their system as students receive an undergraduate degree in education from the University. Read more about the program.

Students in La Salle’s Early Achievement Program (LEAP) were participating in the Creative Minds Innovative Competition, a new course in the dual enrollment college readiness initiative.

La Salle’s Early Achievement Program (LEAP) provides dual enrollment opportunities for area high school students. This summer, some students participated in the Creative Minds Innovative Competition. The course pushed students to think critically and honed their problem-solving skills through addressing a societal problem or concern. Learn more.
